THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

“You now show grace and balance.” Song of Songs 4:2 TPT

How difficult it can be for the Christian to have grace and balance. Quite frankly, some of the things I see online make my toes curl! If I was an unbeliever, I think it would put me off Christianity rather than draw me! Some believers seem to have thrown common sense and balance out of the window.

Christ, however, is our perfect example. You only need to stop and ponder the grace and balance of Christ in the Gospels to see how we ought to live. He never did anything without balance. He is described in the Gospel of John:

“And the Word was … full of grace and truth.” John 1:14 KJV

Of course, we want to be on fire for God and draw others to Him but the way to do this is to allow His grace and balance to control our lives. His grace and truth will draw a soul without our help. There is a way to be on fire for God and lay down your life for Christ without losing sight of common sense.

Take time to reflect on the life of Christ. He had such calmness and dignity: there were times when He never said a word, other times when His words were sharper than a two-edged sword, times when His power drew thousands and times of solitude. His power drew thousands and is still drawing millions all over the world without our human help.

Learn to let His grace control you, rather than attempting to be an effective Christian by your means and in your own strength. If you don’t lean on Him, you’ll soon run out of energy!   Surely, we want fruit that will remain.  We don’t want our energies simply to be consumed without effective results for we want to win lives that will come to Christ for time and eternity. The only way to do this is to win them by depending on the power of the Holy Spirit.

Demonstrate grace and balance in your life. You will bring honour to the Name of Jesus, and you will find the grace of Christ will give fruit that will remain.
