THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

“The fruit of that righteousness will be peace; its effect will be quietness and confidence forever.” Isaiah 32:17 NIVUK

We are asked as Christians to be obedient to the will of God because our Father in heaven knows what is best for us. He knows the effects righteousness can have on us. Two of these effects are quietness and confidence. They are two essential qualities to maintain our spiritual glow and equilibrium in life.

We lose the ability to find ourselves when there is no quiet within. We need a quiet spirit to reflect, meditate and grow. The quietness of God is filled with throbbing power, a living stillness that causes every part of us to feel alive in God. We can sense our spirit expanding in the quietness, for He brings us into wide open spaces.

“He brought me forth also into a large place; He delivered me because he delighted in me.” Psalm 18:19 KJV

This quiet is not a deadness or an emptiness filled with boredom. It’s filled with the control of Christ. His quietness enables us to grow and mature.  We find our place of standing in Him. Life can no longer crush us when we learn the effects of righteousness. His presence brings spiritual confidence and self-control. We are made strong; the Lion is beside us. Anxiety and fear flee before Him. A lack of self-confidence dissipates because our reliance is no longer based on ourselves but on the Lion of the tribe of Judah.

And the following verse: “My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.”  (v18)

Practice this quiet until it influences everyone in your household until even our homes are places of undisturbed rest.
