“I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places.” Isaiah 45:3 NIV24/7/2023 ‘Riches stored in secret places’ suggests the need to go deep into God, into places hidden from many, to find treasures of darkness.
It’s a fascinating thought to think that there are secret places in God. We all have ‘secret places’: some write about their secrets in diaries, whilst others stash them away in a hidey-hole. A secret is something very private, precious and personal to an individual. The word of God says He will give us riches stored in His secret places. Things that are precious, private and personal to God, He will share with the one who seeks after them. This is wonderful. If we walk carefully and seek diligently, it may be that He will reveal them to us. Have you ever known a time when God revealed something secret and precious to you? I remember one time when I was a teenager, being very deeply moved by a sermon that I had heard that morning in church. It was from the Song of Songs and spoke of Christ being our Beloved. I went alone that afternoon and meditated on the verse: “His eyes are like doves by the rivers of waters, washed with milk, and fitly set. His cheeks are like a bed of spices, banks of scented herbs. His lips are lilies, dripping liquid myrrh.” Song of Solomon 5:12,13 NKJV I will never forget the impact it made on me. As a teenager, I fell in love with Christ that afternoon. He gave me a treasure of darkness, one of the riches from God’s secret place. I’ve never forgotten the ‘wow’ factor! Only the Spirit of God could do that. The Spirit of God brought the revelation alive even though I was only a teenager. There are other incredible riches and treasures of darkness for us to find. So how do we acquire them? If you feel, like me, the Spirit quickening you, whether through a sermon, a Bible verse or a song, pursue it. There may be something hidden beneath the surface that will open to you. Give yourself time to meditate on the words until they begin to open. Ask the Spirit of God to: “Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from Your law.” Psalm 119:18 NKJV Then wait in the presence of God, with a longing, thirsty soul until He shares His secrets with you. They will become your most prized and precious memories in life. They will leave an impact on your spirit that you will never forget
